Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask vs Glossier Birthday Cake Balm DotCom

The Great Lip Debate

Winter is here and brings the not so welcomed dry air....Where are my constantly dry/chapped lip ladies at?? This is the blog post for you! During the winter months my lips are always so dry, chapped, flaky and cracked and I absolutely hate it. I have tried everything from the traditional drug store Chapstick to Aquaphor with very few satisfying results. I stumbled across an Instagram post talking about the Laniege "magic" lip sleeping mask, and decided to give it a shot. The product is marketed to deliver "Ultra hydrating and nourishing benefits, kissing flaky lips goodbye" I was SOLD! While ordering the sleep mask I also ordered their lip glosses for throughout the day, to use in combination with the mask. I received the product the next day thanks to Sephora pickup, and was ready to begin trying it in hopes to solve my dry/flaky lips once and for all. I instantly loved the lip glosses and their easy application, the sleeping mask application process I didn't like as much as I had to dip my fingers into the container to scoop the product on my finger and then apply, this screams bacteria growth to me, but if it was going to solve my lip problems I was willing to take the risk. That night before bed I applied multiple layers onto my lips to insure that they were well saturated. I woke up and didn't notice a huge difference right away but also wasn't expecting to yet....a week and a half later I was still having the same issues, while using the product religiously each night before bed, and applying their lip gloss through out the day. Was I doomed to having constant dry/flaky lips for the rest of my life?? I also asked myself if I was also drinking enough water throughout the day to keep my body, skin, and lips hydrated, spoiler alert I had also fallen victim to the Stanley hype (as a Yeti Girl this makes me cringe but that's for another post another day)  and knew I was drinking about 10 of those puppies a day so dehydration was not the issue. I was having coffee with friends and we got to talking, one of my girlfriend has the same lip issues as I do, and was raving about Glossier's Balm DotCom Universal slave, their lips look refreshed and smooth. I began to research while still holding my starbies, the Birthday Cake Balm DotCom. is marketed similar to Laneige in that it delivers ultra hydration, with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and hydrate the driest of lips...I was sold and decided to shoot my shot and order. I received the product a few days later, upon it's arrival I instantly liked the application process a lot better as it was an easy swipe of the tube across my lips, like regular lips gloss. I continued to use Laniege Lip gloss through out the day and to apply the Balm DotCom at night before bed as a sleep mask, I wanted to continue the exact same way I previously had with just altering the night routine product to see my results and be able to pin point the difference if there was any. When I applied the Balm DotCom I instantly could tell the difference in product as this is thicker than the Laneige, I applied two layers to insure my lips were completely saturated with the product as I did with the sleeping mask. Done READY SET HYDRATE SLEEP....The next morning I didn't really notice anything differently my lips were a hint less dry feeling but that was all so far, I continued the same routine for the next two weeks. I am now at exactly two weeks out from using the Laniege Lip Gloss during the day and the Glossier Balm DotCom at night, my lips have never felt more hydrated, I am not picking off the flaking skin as there is zero to pick, a win in my book!! For me personally, I have found that Glossier's BalmDot Com works better for my lips than the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, oh and did I mentions Glossier's Balm Dotcom comes in at $14 versus the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask's $24 price tag!! Birthday Cake Balm DotCom is 100% worth the hype IMHO....now go choose your flavor and get to nourishing those gorgeous lips ladies!!
